Ford Repair: Ford Escort 98 Time belt, timing belts, ford escort
QuestionI have a ford escort 98, at 100,000 kmtrs, I changed the time belt. Now it has over 200,000 kilometers and i will do a long trip (cross the USA). My question is SHOULD I CHANGE THE TIME BELT JUST IN CASE????
AnswerJuan-
Honestly, I think you should be fine. 100,000kms is what...a little over 50,000 miles? Generally timing belts last at least 75,000-100,000 miles. In fact I generally only recommend people replace them if they've got 150,000 miles or more (unless there is some problem associated with it). I wouldn't really consider it part of a regular preventative maintainance schedule for something like a long trip, though. Hope this helps.
