Ford Repair: distributors, windser, ford truck

I am changing motors in my 73 ford truck with points. I had a 71 351 windser in it, but I am now putting a 78 302 with electronics on it. My problem is that I want to put the points from the 351 in the 302 motor, but it will not fit. Do you have any Idea why it does not fit and what can I do about it.

James, unfortunately the distributors are not the same.  I have done some research (that is why it has taken me so long to answer your question) and as far as I can tell, you will have to buy a new distributor (if you want to use points).  The good news is that it should only cost around 40 dollars at your local parts store.  I hope this helps,   Jason
