Ford Repair: horsepower, power adder, buld
QuestionI have a 03 GT.What are the best gears I can get for it? Also what type of gas i should be using.
AnswerJeremy-
The best gears depend a lot of the transmission. If you're using a manual transmission, 3.55 or 3.73 gears are probably best, especially if the car sees mostly street/highway driving. For an automatic car 3.73s or 4.10s are more the way to go. As far as gas goes, it's not going make a huge difference on a car that's mostly stock or even fairly well modified. Unless you're using some sort of power adder or a high compression ratio. In my truck I use mid-grade gas which is (where I live) 89 octane. It seems to be a good mix of protection against detonation and lack of build up causing extra octane. Remember...premium gas (usually 91-93 octane) will cause carbon buld-up if your engine doesn't need it because the fuel doesn't have a chance to burn off completely. Hope this helps.
