Ford Repair: main bearing caps for 302 ford, cam bearings, salvage yard

i have misplaced no 4 cap. if i went to the salvage yard and got a complete set from a donor do you think that would be ok for a non high preformance motor. i know a little about line boring but i was ready to put together, my machine work and cam bearings are installed. 1974 block

  Normally I wouldn't recommend replacing any internal engine parts with parts from other blocks.  However, replacement main caps can be hard to come by so if you can't find any new replacements I doubt it would kill your motor if you went with a salvage part.  Just make sure it's in good shape and lines up with the block as well as possible.  Hope this helps.
