Ford Repair: engine bore, ballpark figure

please help me

can you tell me how far i can bore my 302W not sure exactly what year it is between 68 & 74
a ballpark figure would be ok. it is already 40 thou over

  If the block is already bored ".040 over, it's time for a new block.  In my opinion anything over ".030 is pushing it on a factory block.  I suppose you could have it sonic checked and, if there's enough material there, bore it to ".060.  Then again I wouldn't expect the engine to last that long like that.  Besides, used and new 302 and 5.0 blocks are fairly cheap these days.  Hope this helps.
