Ford Repair: Ford Windstar speed sensor, ford windstar, speedometer cable

I took my van to a transmission specialist because it was shifting hard.  Also, i had noticed the speedometer cable was bouncing around.  They said it was probably my speed sensor.  Where is the speed sensor?  Can it be fixed by us, or does a specialist have to replace it?

if your cable was bouncing around i would check the cable first. the cable is a known problem when you get around 70000 miles on them. your speed sensor is either on the transmission or part of the p.c.m (computer). ford has changed the speed sensor a few times so it can be in the places i stated,and i dont have the year of your windstar.hope this helps.
