Ford Repair: 98 Ford Taurus SE Idle Problem, ford taurus, mechanic

I have a 98 Ford Taurus SE, V6, and it idles erratically.  At startup it will idle up to 4000 rpm then drop to 750, and continues until i give it gas.  At stops, the idle drops to almost stalling, and sometimes even stalls.  Please help

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 I would suggest that you bring it to a mechanic and have him check the computer for codes. If your engine is that far out of spec. It should of stored a code. This code, will lead the mechanic to a diagnosis and repair.
