Ford Repair: Fuel problem, radiator support, fuel pumps
QuestionHi Dave how are you today? I have a 1992 F250 custom pickup 4.9L. The problem i have is the engine isn't getting any fuel. The fuel pump don't work I have power to the FP relay. I don't have any ground signal from the pcm to the FP relay when i do ground it the fuel pump does operate but won't start because i don't have a ground signal from the PCM to all the fuel injectors, i have power to both sides of the injector, also i have no power to the fuel tank transfer switch & inertia fuel shut off. Does this means i have a PCM problem. I really would appreciate if you can help me with this please.
Thanking you Mark
AnswerI don't have a service manual or EVTM for this vehicle. A 1996 F-Series grounds both fuel pumps at the top-left of the radiator support. The fuel pumps are supplied power when the key is turned on. A very common problem for these vehicles is a bad tank transfer switch. Ford issued an extended warranty on this part for, I think, 10 years or 150,000 miles.
I hope this helps,
Dave
