Ford Repair: 92 Taurus no overdrive, gas milage, d band
QuestionMy daughter bought a used 92 Taurus and she complained about poor gas milage. After driving it, it is not going into overdrive. The transmission seems to be shifting fine otherwise. A few months ago I replaced the power steering hoses (big job) and had several electrical connectors disconnected. I have looked a couple of times to make sure I reconnected everything and don't see anything obvious. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JM
AnswerJM:
While the problem could be electrical (speed sensor, MLP switch, or wiring), Odds are that there is an internal difficulty in the tranmission (broken o/d band, sticking valve in the valve body). My suggestion would be diagnosis by a competent transmission technician. I wish I had a better answer, but without the vehicle it becomes a little more difficult.
