Ford Repair: Front Bearings 93 Ford Tempo, ford tempo, axle shaft
QuestionMy right front hub&bearings have needed replacement three times in the last year...no visable reason for them to keep going. A mechanic recently checked it and stated I needed a Steering Nuckle what and where does this go, and how does it cause the bearings to keep going?
AnswerI have never heard of a vehicle needing front hub & bearings replaced three times in one year. I hope that the replacement hubs are under warranty, and not costing you anything. The steering knuckle is the part that the hub bolts to. I don't know how a bad knuckle could cause the hub to fail. If this hub is pressed into the bearing, I would guess that it is not being assembled properly. If it is an assembly, I would guess that the axle shaft is not seated properly or the axle nut is not being torqued down correctly. I would recommend taking the vehicle to a Ford Dealer to have the vehicle inspected.
I hope this helps,
Dave
