Ford Repair: Ranger Break Light sw pblms, nylon bushing, test meter

Ford Ranger ' 94 - Break lights not commig on -
   a Replaced Sw -- no joy

   b. cut off plug to bk light sw  replaced with two female lugs --- no joy

   c Both old and new sw appear to work ok with test meter ... and lights come on when Sw itself is moved either up or down .

   d.Seems to be a small amount of play on the small plastic / nylon  bushing which rides inside body of the Sw -  over the  shaft of the 'pin' attached to the break pedal .

I'd start by making sure I have power to the switch, and then I'd start tracing wires in the brake lamp circuit.  There is a very remote possibility that the multi-function switch is bad, but I can't access wiring diagrams that old on computer.
