Ford Repair: door locks, door locks, 3 doors

Question
Is it possible to disable the automatic locking feature on my 1998 Ford Explorer?  I find it annoying that I have to remember to push the unlock button for the other 3 doors every time I exit the vehicle.  Can it be set to only lock the doors when I depress the door locks button?

Mr. Anderson,

It can be disabled but you need a scan tool to do it as the automatic door lock is programed into the vehicle's computer. I do not believe that the computer can be programed to only lock when you depress the lock button. Sorry that I can not be of more assistance on this problem. Good luck.
