whay does it mean when abs light comes on?

The anti-lock brake light comes on to alert the driver of a failure in the anti-lock portion of the braking system.  The service brakes of the vehicle will still operate fine.  The concern should be diagnosed by a reputable repair facility and repaired.  The abs system will not operate while light is illuminated.
