I will like to know aproximate how much HP had an 1988 ford mercury 5.0l EFI engine?, and what was the copression ratio?; and if I put and intake manifold with a 4v carburator does it will gain more HP and does the compresion ratio will change?

It depends which model it came out of. On average I'd say around 200hp or so with a compression ratio of about 9.0:1. With a carb'ed motor you might make a few more horsepower, but your fuel economy will tank and carbs are a pain to swap onto an EFI or TBI motor since you have to do a good amount of tuning just to get them running right. You won't change the compression ratio, though. Hope this helps.
