Ford Repair: 67 289, 67 cougar, blk

i have a 67 cougar with a 289  im having trouble removing the dist. to replace it as a matter of fact i can barely turn it ,the car has been sitting for about 2 yrs .also im replacing the harnesses ,eng.gauge,alt.and complete engine(main)i was hopping u can help engine gauge has  a blk.,a red/white,a red/tan wires can u tell me witch is witch, also the alt. has ablk./red=grd. a white, awhite/blk,and a big blk.wire that goes towitch term. on the starter sel.? i would greatly appreciate any help u can be thanks john

somtimes you have to tap the dist to loosenm it.also put the engine on top dead center which somtimes helps.on the engine guage the blk is grd red/white =nuertral red/tan=feed.alternator=blk/red=grd wht/blk=feed big blk to positive on sel.hope this helps.
