Ford Repair: 1996 mustang dash light, auto parts stores, dash light

Question
I have a red warning light coming on located  to the right of the steering wheel, the light looks like a little fan - I do not have a manual and am a mechanically challenged 20 year old and need the car to get to school and wonder what it means $$$ wise. I know it probably needs to go to the mechanic but would like to be forewarned  of cost due to be a starving student. Any help would be great!

  First you'll need to identify the exact problem.  If a light is on chance are there's a trouble code in the computer.  Many auto parts stores these days will scan the computer for free giving you a better idea of what's going on.  Once you know that you'll have a better idea of what you should expect to spend.  Judging by your description, I wouldn't expect it to cost too much.  Hope this helps.
