Ford Repair: f350 motor, f350 crew cab, red flags

is the 7.5 V8 a gas or diesel? i'm looking at buying a 1996 F350 crew cab. are there any special things i should look for or stay away from? thanks, Ben

  First, let me say my knowledge of diesels is pretty limited, but Ford's 7.5L motor is the 460.  I believe the diesel's designation is the 7.3L.  So in that case it'd be a gas motor.  As far as what to look for or avoid, there really aren't any red flags I know of on the F350s.  If you're looking to do heavy load towing you'll want the turbo diesel.  If it's just a light/medium tow vehicle and/or a daily driver then the 460 should do just fine.  Hope this helps.
