Honda Repair: Alarm & Central Lock, public car park, key remote control
QuestionMy friend lost her car's key, remote control and all personal particular in a snatch incident. She is concern if the thieve may find her address and target on her car when parked at public car park ( she already changed her apartment ‘s lock). Mechanic suggest she change all the lock for her honda city (the whole system include door lock , engine ignition key and the alarm system (because the remote transmitter was taken away with teh car key ) which cost quite substantial amount.
Would appreciate your advice of such scenario, any solution for the above and cost lesser money ? (such as reset alarm system to avoid the necessary for replacement ?)
AnswerKype, honestly, no, there is no other cheap way to disable the car. But, for about $25 US, you can install a hidden "kill switch" on a toggle. Which only the owner and installer would know about. Meaning each time you go to start the car you would have to flick the switch in order to gain power to the car. The thieve would be able to gain entry into the vehicle but not steal it. Do not leave any personal items in vehicle and carry insurance on the car which covers theft/vandalism.
