Honda Repair: dashboard lamp replacement, shift position, lamp replacement

The "D" lamp on my dashboard is out. Is this a simple fix for a novice like me or should I take it to the dealer? I can't find the exact steps to replace the lamp so any info would help. Thanks.

It depends on what kind of vehicle you are driving. Some times the bulbs burns out & can be replaced by removed the instrument panel, other times the shift position switch gets worn out because 99% of the time the car is in drive & eventually the contact points get worn out. Some switches are on the tranmission, other cars they are beside the gear shifter. You didn't specify what kind of Honda you have & I wouldn't start taking the dash apart if you are unsure on how to fix it.
