Honda Repair: 2002 Honda CR-V A/C problem, honda cr v, cool air

My 2002 cr-v quit blowing cool air.  Over the past few days my A/C has not putting out cool air, asit should be.  Any ideas what this could be and cost repairs?  I have 68,700 miles.  My husband mentiond something about my compressor, but would my car still be running properly if this were the problem?

from the year of the vehicle it wont be the compressor, everyone blames the compressor but in actual fact it either needs regassing or clean the a/c purge tank. If the a/c doesnot work properly it will make no difference to the running of the engine.
