my 1998 honda prelude sh when  warm takes a while for it to pick up gear it does it on reverse also. its does it on first gear only then it shifts perfectly. when the car is cold it shifts good when in gear and in reverse

If the trans fluid level is full, sounds like the transmission is starting to go bad.  Have seen this before.  Depending upon the miles, you can talk to the dealership or American Honda and see if they will help you.  If not, I would drive it until it quits and then worry about repairing it.
