Honda Repair: Replacing Fan Motor, pin fan, fan motor
QuestionMy friends' fan Motor went out in her car. It's a 1989 Honda Civic, with 125,000 miles on it. I was wondering if you could tell me how to replace the fan motor, so I can save her some money.
AnswerZabrina, you have to remove the fan with the shroud. To do this you have to remove 4 bolts securing it to the rad. 2 on top, 2 on bottom. Disconnect the 2 pin fan connecter and pull the fan and shroud straight up through the top. Then remove the fan from the motor(1 nut). Then remove the screws securing the motor to the shroud. Then install all new parts in reverse order of removal. Make sure the fan is defective by jumping the motor before you replace the it. Good luck, RICK
