Honda Repair: 2000 Honda Civic stalls at idle, second tank, auto parts store
QuestionI have a 2000 Honda Civic that when cold idles fine. After warming up it will stall. If I am traveling in the city and come to a traffic light the car will shut off when I come to a complete stop. It started happening yesterday on the way home from work, first the check engine light came on then the stalling started at idle rpm range. I had added some injector cleaner to the gas tank two weeks prior to this and am on my second tank of fuel since then.
I had seen the response to changing the fuel filter but there wasn't a reply if that was the cause. If I were to increase the idle the check engine light would still remain illuminated correct?
Any suggestions with instructions to perform, to include part numbers, would be greatly appreciated.
Mike
AnswerMike:
You may want to replace the fuel filter, usually a good idea and relatively inexpensive. I would think the check engine light would remain lit as there is something causing the idle to go too low. You can go to an auto parts store and use a code reader to get the code from the computer, email back to me and I can let you know what the code indicates.
Good luck.
