Honda Repair: Honda Prelude 95 Vtec, honda prelude vtec, honda prelude 95
QuestionHi Bill,
I own a 95 honda prelude vtec and has some issues with the performance. I changed the plugs/wires over a month ago and noticed that it would bogg down between 2k-3k RPM and when I try to gun it. It is especially noticeable in first gear.
I replaced the cap/rotor which helped it run a little better about two weeks after. I thought it might have been bad plug wires (I bought the magnacore red wires initially w/denso irridium plugs), so I replaced them with stock borg/warner from kragen and reset the ECU.
The performance is significantly better like feeling more power being used rather than holding back. I noticed now it's harder to start the car and still feel the bogging down issue (now in first gear feels like it might stall if I don't keep it above 2K-3K again). I have no clue what the problems are and I really could use your help!
Thanks!
AnswerJoseph:
I assume from your message that the problems started after you replaced the plugs and plug wires. If that is the case and you put a second set of wires in and the performance got better, I would suspect you may have a bad plug.
Let me know if my assumption is wrong.
