My car idles very roughly and is loosing gas mileage, so i suspected the map sensor was the problem. I can not locate where the sensor is to replace it.

Hi, Cody.  The MAP sensor typically bolts into the top of the intake manifold with one bolt.  If you follow up with the year and model of your vehicle, I can verify the location.

Given your description, however, I find it unlikely that the MAP sensor is the issue.  A faulty MAP sensor will typically not cause a rough idle.  Usually, a rough idle is caused by a misfire.  Is your check engine lamp on?  Does the engine run normally when you rev it up a little bit or leave from a stop?
