Hyundai Repair: 1997 tiburon 1.8L altinator, ground terminal, wire terminal
QuestionI was driving when my car just stoped.I found out that the ground wire terminal was loose to the battery and was arching. The battery was dead.I put on a new ground terminal and charged the battery but the alternator was putting out 15volts.my battery went dead again and I changed the alternator and charged the battery but it keeps going dead. When I get the alternator check I get two answers, either it is putting out too much or not enough voltage.im confused
AnswerIf your old alternator was overcharging, it probably destroyed the battery. First, check the main fuse (usually 60-100A) in the underhood fues box. If okay, start with replacing the battery and then recheck the alternator. Depending on what's wrong with the battery, the alternator may not be able to keep consistent voltage.
