Questionproblem:Hard starting when cold,we have replaced the timing belt and now find it hard to start when cold.It seems to lack fuel when cranking,it wants to start but does not.If push starting(to save battery)it takes a while to get going. If the car is warm it starts almost immediately.
Could you please give me some ideas where to look.
Thanks
AnswerSince this occurred immediately after replacing the timing belt, you should recheck the camshaft timing very carefully to be sure it's correct.
It's more likely, however, that the issue is unrelated. My primary suspicion it that the fuel pressure regulator allows the fuel pressure to bleed off as the vehicle sits. To check this, you'll need to install a fuel pressure gauge and monitor fuel pressure after the engine is turned off.
