Hyundai Repair: 2001 Hyundai Sonata Fuel Door clasp broken, hyundai sonata, realistic possibilities
QuestionHow can I repair the clasp that holds the fuel door shut? A part popped off at the gas station and I could not find it. If I can order a part, could you direct me to the right source as Hyundai's own site is useless for this part?
AnswerUnless I recall incorrectly, the door is held shut by a protrusion on the end of the release cable that inserts into a hole in the tab on the door itself.
I figure there are two realistic possibilities:
1. The nut retaining the cable came off and the cable pushed back into the hole. In this case, you may be able to find a replacement nut at a hardware store.
2. The plastic protrusion broke off. In this case, you'll need to replace the fuel door release cable. You should be able to purchase/order one from your local Hyundai dealer.
