When filling the car with gas,the nozzle from the pump keeps shutting off. It takes several minutes to fill the car. I notice once in a while the gas gauge sometimes doesn't register correctly. Any suggestions?

This is a sign that your fuel tank isn't venting properly.  Typically, it accompanies a check engine lamp and diagnostic trouble code P0449.

Frequent causes are a clogged canister or canister filter.  But there could be a problem anywhere in the system that allows fuel vapors to vent or a blockage in the pathway for fuel to enter the tank.
