Hyundai Repair: program a new remote for 2001 sante fe, sante fe, scan tool

ihave just recently needed to purchase a second remote for my car . i purchASED as used origanal hyundai remote  the remote lights up but will not work with my car can you please tell me how to program my new remote to work with the 2001 sante fe  thanks james

To my knowledge, James, the only way to program your vehicle to recognize both remotes is with the dealer's scan tool.  You'll need present both remotes at the time of programming.  Otherwise, the vehicle will only recognize the one that was programmed last.
