on a 91 excel how do you get the outer boot back on the shaft

You'll need to take the inner boot off the inner joint and remove the inner joint from the shaft.  You'll also need to remove the damper if you have one.  Then, you can slide the outer boot down the shaft, put the grease in, and attach the boot to the joint and shaft.  Then reinstall the damper (if appropriate), the inner joint, and the inner boot.
