My engine oil light is on. What kind of problem am I looking at.

This lamp should come on when your oil pressure is low.  Here are most of the possibilities that could cause the lamp to come on:

1.  Low engine oil level.
2.  Circuit between oil pressure switch and oil lamp shorted to ground.
3.  Defective oil pressure switch.
4.  Worn oil pump.
5.  Excessive engine bearing clearance.
