my mechanic told me i am not getting much compression from the engine so  u know wat could have be the proplem

Hi, Dwight.  Here are the basic causes of low compression:

Worn cylinder walls.
Valves not seating properly (for any number of reasons).
Incorrect cam timing.

Why was the compression being checked in the first place?  Do you know what the readings are for the individual cylinders?
