Jeep Repair: brake connector switch, jeep grand cherokee, spare fuse
QuestionI am trying to connect up my electrical brake controller on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle has factory installed hitch and wiring already. I can also see the blue wiring under the steering column that is provided for the trail brakes.
There appears to be a lack of detail information and how to connect up the brake controller to the vehicle. The lack of info is not in what wires are connected to what part of the electrical system but in where on the vehicle is a convenient spot to make necessary connections. I also note that in some vehicles the factory has installed a pre-wired connector for connecting up electrical brake controllers but it does not appear that the 204 Jeep GC was provided with such capabilities.
So here are my questions:
1. Does the 2004 Jeep GC have a factory pre-wired connector that can be used to connect an electrical brake controller?
2. Where is the best spot to connect the +12 volt cable (i.e.:straight to the battery or some wire in the car)?
3. The manufacturer of the electrical brake controller recommends installing an auto resettable 20 or 30 amp breaker to the +12 volts power cable. Is this necessary for my Jeep GC or can I connect to some spare fuse in my fuse panel?
4.I need to connect to the brake switch (pin 5) that is located above the brake pedal, what is the best way to connect to that wire (i.e.: is there a spare lug available on the brake switch or do I have to use some kind of insulation displacing lug to make the connection)?
Thank you.
Answerthe lack of details for your setup is from the controller that U got the blue wire is the power wire all the rest is provided from the brake controller that U got. There is no possible way to have every known brake controller out there listed for all jeep and cars out there that is info that they provide the dealer gives U the power supply
