Jeep Repair: Fan removal from 01 Wrangler 4.0L, fan blade assembly, drive pulley
QuestionI am trying to change the water pump on my Jeep and need to remove the fan in order to get to the pump. I am afraid the repair manual I am using has misled me. I removed the 4 bolts attaching the drive pulley to the water pump per the manual, but I can not remove the fan. Have I made a mistake? If so, what are the correct steps to remove the fan?
Answer4.0L EngineThe thermal viscous fan drive/fan blade assembly is attached (threaded) to water pump hub shaft. Remove fan blade/viscous fan drive assembly from water pump by turning mounting nut counterclockwise as viewed from front. Threads on viscous fan drive are RIGHT HAND. Using a suitable fan wrench loosen the fan drive (Fan and Fan Drive - 4.0L Engine).
