Jeep Repair: Oil Sending Unit, oil sending unit, tricky job

Where is it located on my 1996 Grand Cherokee 5.2 v8 engine?
Can I change it without losing my oil?

Hey Bob, This is a tricky job.  The Oil sending unit will be behind the distributor.  You won't lose much oil, just what is in the sending unit.  You will however need a special socket made for oil sending units, it is a must. I can't honestly remember but I think it might be easier to remove the distributor to do this job.  So get a shop manual, a sending unit socket, and a little time.  Hope I could help you!
