Land Rover Repair: TCU

QUESTION: i have a 05 RR HSE and the TCU is bad can i get it from another RR 05 of the  model the same to replace

ANSWER: No the control units are coded to the vehicle

QUESTION: Can a used tcu be coded to my vehicle from anther vehicle and if so what is needed to do such

ANSWER: In my experience you can't move control units from one vehicle to another.  I have heard of some Russian technicians who learned how to erase the coding and they can put the module back to "new" so it can be coded but I don't know where to refer you for that service.  The unit probably won't transfer right out of the car

The coding process has to be done with the vehicle and the test system together.  Your next step is to find a qualified diagnostic and repair person - the dealer should certainly have the ability and tools and there may be independent shops who can handle this where you are too.  I'm sorry bit it's not a mail-order thing.
