Land Rover Repair: Defender 110. Diesel, 2010 model, diesel conditioner, fuel contamination
QuestionWhen night temperature in winter fall to -2 to -5 degrees C car start in morning and travel 50 m and then cut out. If sun is up for few hours only it start again. Two other diesel cars next to this one is fine and summer is also fine. Landrover find nothing wrong with engine ? Why will this be and can it be water in diesel filter that freeze and limit diesel flow ?
AnswerOn a late model car the most common reason for failure to start when cold is indeed fuel contamination. You may have to pump the tank empty and put in fresh diesel. If Land Rover says the engine is all right, that is likely the next step.
You might try driving the vehicle till the low fuel light comes on, then go 20 more miles, and fill with fresh diesel and a bottle of strong diesel conditioner. See if that does not cure your trouble
