Land Rover Repair: engine strain when climbing in mountains, engine vibration, roverland
QuestionDiscovery 2 2000 77000 miles. I drove from SF to Yosemite this last weekend and when on steady climbs I was getting an engine vibration sound when sustaining gas flow, if I backed off the gas it stopped. At about 7500 feet I got an oil light on the dash, as I had just arrived at the park entrance I pulled over and checked oil and it was full. Any ideas?
AnswerHi Bruce,
it could be oil related: oil pressure sensor fault, strainer pickup fouled, oil filter needs to be changed. Have a local garage perform an oil pressure test to see if it reveals any problems.
It could also be an indication that you have problems within the engine itself: lifters fouled, carbon deposits, valve job needed, headgasket problems. It would be better if you have a shop that can diagnose LR engine troubles. There are local independent shops in the Bay area that can examine your engine throughly:
