Land Rover Repair: Differential Gear..., differential gear, anniversary model

My 2001 RR 30th year Anniversary model is making a clicking sound.  Through researching it appears to be the differential gear.  Can you tell me about this type of repair?  I don't want to have to purchase a new car; however, I need to assess the value in the repair and the longevity of my truck.

First of all, I have no idea if your truck needs a differential repair or not.  If it does, a differential costs about $1,400 last time I checked with Land Rover.  It tales about 2 hours to change a rear diff; 4-5 hours to change the front one.  Another option would be buying a complete used axle from a salvage yard.  It might take more time to install but parts costs might be lower.
