Land Rover Repair: 2004 Land Rover Discovery 84k miles,, land rover discovery, 2004 land rover discovery
QuestionI drive a 2004 Discovery SE7 with 83k miles. This morning I got codes P1412 and P1415, which appear to be related to a secondary air system fault. I received these codes, just after agreeing to sell the vehicle to someone. I still have the car, we are meeting on Monday to sign paperwork etc. What are your thoughts on the issue, what it would take to fix. Is there anything I can look at myself? I have checked all the hoses and I don't see anything that is loose. If I clear the code, it comes back on the next time I start it cold, if its warm the system doesn't run and the SES doesn't come on. I can hear that system running on a cold start, not a warm start though.
Thanks for your help
AnswerThere is a test routine for the secondary air system, but you need a T4 or Autologic tester to run the tests. Without that it's anybody's guess what's wrong - hoses, valves, pump, or all of the above.
Secondary air problems are pretty common but unfortunately there is no one common failure item.
