Land Rover Repair: Disco II electrical problem, mass air meter, crank sensor
QuestionHi,
I have a 2000 Disco II. I replaced both head gaskets 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden, while the car is idling (once at a light and the second time in my driveway), the car died. I believe it's electrical b/c it just quit...no cough, no sputter. Also, checked a plug wire for spark and nothing. I felt the wires that plug into the coil and they appear secure. Battery cables are clean and secure. Is this a coincidental or did I not plug something in securely? Ever heard of this?
Thanks for your experience and reply,
Doug
AnswerWell, if you took the truck apart and two weeks later it stops running . . . you have to ask if that's coincidence or you left something loose. If I were to bet it would be on the second choice. What I suggest is that you check for stored OBD II fault codes and then check the crank sensor connections. Also check the connections to the coils, and the mass air meter.
