Land Rover Repair: 2003 HSE7 Discovery II problems!, rocker shafts, wrist pin
QuestionI just purchased this vehicle new & drove it home over 400miles.There's a tapping sound which is getting quite loud, the service engine light is on & when it starts flashing, the car feels likes its jerking & almost has trouble accelerating properly.I was told it might need new lifters along w/ a few other things. Can you offer me some advice what you think it sounds like or if you need more info from me,please let me know & I'll be happy to let you know anything else.I'm scared to drive it much more w/ out some servicing. Thanks
AnswerThe tapping could be a catalyst, rocker shafts, or a wrist pin. All are common, none are life threatening. Of course, it could have a more serious and less common issue too - there is no way to know without checking. I'd suggest you find a Land Rover expert and ask him to listen and render an opinion.
