Land Rover Repair: changing intercooler, range rover td6, facebook

Question
how long will it take to change the intercooler on a 2003 range rover td6 and is it a hard job to do. the intercooler on my car has a split at one of the front corners and the there is black smoke coming from the exhaust when you accelerate when the engine has warmed up.I have been quoted around £800 at the main dealer to fix the car.

We do not have that engine here in the USA, so I can't answer from experience.  On older Defenders, though, it would be a few hours work and the newer ones are generally more time consuming because there is more "stuff" on them.
