Land Rover Repair: code 1471, intake manifold, freelander

my checdk engine light came on, and the scanner said code 1471.  What does that mean?  I am not able to figure out what park needs to be fixed

P1471 points to the failure of the variable intake manifold in a Freelander.  It's about a $1,000 part, several hours to replace it.  There is a repair kit for a bit less money but in my experience at Robison Service in New England the whole manifold is needed pretty often.
