Land Rover Repair: Propshaft, differential lock, prop shaft

Can a landrover discovery be driven without the front prop shaft ?

Answer
As long as your model has a differential lock, you can move it to the locked position and then remove the shaft and you have a rear wheel drive vehicle.  Without the diff locked the front output on the transfer case will spin and the vehicle won't move.

You won't hurt anything either way, though
