Land Rover Repair: Air suspension, land rover discovery, land rover discovery ii
QuestionHello,
Thank you for taking these questions. I have a Land Rover Discovery II. The left rear air suspension lowers to the ground after it sits for a while. Then when I start it up it raises again. It only happens when I park the car and it sits. And sometimes it can sit for a week just fine. Then I take it out and 1 hour later it turns into a low rider. Do you know why it is doing this?
AnswerThat's a classic leaky spring scenario, when sitting just right the spring will leak through small cracks at the bottom, when in a slightly different position the leaks will be sealed up so it won't leak. the temperature makes a difference as well, colder = worse leaks.
A new spring is the only solution, just like a dry-rotted tire. You can replace one at a time, just keep in mind that if one has gone bad the other isn't too far behind.
I have the springs listed here:

If you don't like/want/need the rear air suspension you can convert to regular coil springs.
