Land Rover Repair: ticking noise from defender 300tdi, wd 40, baering

I have an anoying ticking noise coming from what seems to be the belt tensioner.as when i squirt a little wd 40 on the back it stops for a while.I only changed the baering about 200 miles ago should this be happening? thanks gerry

I don't a have much experience with the diesels, but mechanically speaking if it's killing bearings in 200 miles something is wrong.   I can't say exactly what, but the tensioner spring may be too tight or something out of alignment putting extra stress on the brng.  It also could be a wrong-spec bearing.
