Land Rover Repair: EAS, airsprings, mkiii
QuestionToday I started my 03 RR 44K with no problem and went to the store about a mile away. came out of the store and started the truck and the message center read "Air Sup. Inactive" the four lights on the height selector(behind shifter)were all off. I took out fuse 57 and changed it(it wasn't blown but had typical fuse suit) and the manual height selector hold switch came on and it is stuck in normal ride height. This is the first time this has happened please help I don't want to get robbed by the dealer but i want this to get fixed before it turn into the dreaded crawl mode thing I have been hearing about.
AnswerAt that age you may have leaky airsprings, depending on the treatment it's seen the springs may or may not be leaky. There was a recall on the early MkIII air suspension compressors and a software upgrade, call the dealer with your VIN and ensure these were done if applicable to your RR. If not already done they should be free.
The springs can be checked with a spray bottle and soapy water when they're at normal height, if you see bubbles anywhere on the spring it's time for replacement.
