Land Rover Repair: 2003 Discovery SE, shuttle valve, valve failure
QuestionI am looking at purchasing a Disco (75K miles)that just had the ABS module rebuilt by a local shop. LR dealer says they don't rebuild just replace for $2300. Any experience with reliability of rebuilt modules? Thank you!
AnswerThe main fault with the ABS modualtor on these vehicles is electrical shuttle valve failure. The shuttle valve is available as a separate item, to be replaced in the unit, which would contitute rebuilding. I have found replacement of the shuttle valve to be extremely successful and even dealers sell the replacement kit and most dealers have replaced hundreds of these themselves.
